Welcome to my website.

I have been a professional harmonica player and entertainer for over fifty years, and have played all the major theatres in the country with all the star names of the day.

I came out of the navy in 1948 with the intention of getting married and just being a working bloke, but someone gave me a harmonica just before my twenty first birthday and I was hooked. I had no musical knowledge but I really worked at being a good harmonica player, and by the time I was twenty five I had achieved 2nd place in the World Harmonica Championships in Duisburg, playing the classical overture "The Dance of the Comedians".

I came home from Duisburg and entered showbiz. Initially I did a solo act, then I formed harmonica trio "The Croma Trio", and I finally finished with my family act "The Musical Maxims" consisting of my wife Kath, son John and daughter Sharon: we played harmonicas, melodicas, trumpets, trombone, saxophone, guitar, piano and vocals.

In 1980 I was made a member of the very prestigious showbiz fraternity "The Grand Order Of Water Rats", whose membership never exceeds 180 at any one time. You can find out more about them here.

I am 81 now but still love playing, and I still get to play harmonica features with a couple of big bands for whom I also play saxophone. One of them, the Horace Stone Big Band, has a website here, and the video above is of me playing with them. I also play with a 5-piece function band, Infusion, whose website is here.

Many thanks for visiting my site. If you are interested in harmonica playing here are a couple of useful links:
